The Board, Flag Officers, members and staff of the CYCSA offer our sincere condolences to Geoff, Sophie, Adam and their family members on the passing of Sylvia Common on 29th January. Sylvia was a very special person, who touched the hearts and won the admiration of many, many people. A very loving mother, wife and friend, she will be sadly missed by all who were privileged to know her.
On behalf of the Cruising Yacht Club of South Australia, the Board, Flag Officers, members and staff we offer our sincere and heartfelt condolences to the Lumbers family on the passing of Warwick Lumbers. Warwick was a Foundation Member of the CYCSA. Founder of Gliderol, Warwick was a very generous man who offered support and sponsorship to many charities and organisations. He was also a supporter of the CYCSA History Book First Watch.
It is with sadness that I have to inform you of the recent passing of Josko Grubic. He was a CYCSA Foundation Member and a reknowned member of the RSAYS for almost 53 years. Josko was a colourful character known by many for his outgoing personality and yachting achievements with his boat Anaconda II. The condolences of the club go to his wife Renate and their family. The family held a private service for Josko's cremation. (From RSAYS Website)
Graeme Measday passed away on 5 May 2012. For many years Graeme was an active member of the CYCSA enjoying both his sailing and social times at the Club with family and friends. Graeme dedicated considerable time to the corporate governance of the CYCSA and was a Board Member in 1985, Rear Commodore 1986 and Vice Commodore 1987 – 1989. Graeme was President of the CYCSA from 1989 – 1993 and was our third Commodore from 1993 - 1998. Graeme and wife Judy were responsible for reviving the Social Activities committee and introduced a number of events and initiatives like the ‘Welcome to Members’ cocktail night. Our thoughts and condolences to Judy Measday and family.
